Sumi means black ink, and e means painting. In this Sumi-e workshop students will learn the technique of painting in the classical Japanese black ink style. Beginning with simple brush strokes and then advancing to more complex imagery, students will learn how to build upon a background of simple, elegant and serene brush strokes to communicate the essence of the subject.
