This class is intended for those wishing to continue their practice in the
areas of painting, drawing and pastel with the objective to find, develop
and articulate a direction in one's own body of artwork. Through in-class
work, lectures, group critiques, and personalized attention, individuals will
explore and discuss their work, and come to better understand ones own
creative process. Throughout the class, students will be introduced to types
of imagery and methods of working that explore a variety of traditional and
nontraditional media and tools, and discuss a variety of themes and contemporary
issues in art. Though some specific assignments may be given,
designed to help an individual discover new territory or gain comprehension,
most work in class will be self-directed, and at ones own pace. This
class encourages the student to be the ultimate advocate for his or her
unique vision of the world. This is an exciting class for those willing to give
themselves a push, and explore new directions with like-minded
individuals who can devote some time outside of class.
