This beginning course is designed for students new to using wire in
jewelry applications, but is open to students of all levels. The class begins
by acquainting students with the basic supplies and tools used in
wire jewelry construction, then will progress to instruction on various
wire working techniques. Basic wire wrapping techniques are the
primary focus of the course, but surface embellishment, simple
forging, introductory sheet metal work and common finishing
techniques will also be included. Demonstrations and projects are
geared toward acquiring a new wire skill each week.
