Anne VanLeeuwan grew up in Los Angeles, California during the 1950's and 1960's. A creative family environment encouraged experimentation and self-expression. Her education at San Jose State College, San Miguel de Allende and finally, graduation from UCLA offered guidance and refinement to already good instincts.

Continuing education in hand papermaking at the Carriage House in Brookline, Massachusetts, Taos, New Mexico, Fabriano, Italy and the Abbazia Spineto in Sateano, Italy has provided extensive papermaking expertise. Some of Anne's recent work is presently in the traveling show Breaking the Mould in the United Kingdom, also Photoworks in Denver, Colorado at the Abecedarian Gallery.

In 2006, she was a bronze medal winner in London, England's Camera Club in the Alternative and Early Process Photographic Prints show and her work was represented in Michigan at the Michigan Invitational: Photography at the Saginaw Art Museum.
